Animal-Based Family Tips

Animal-Based Family Tips

pro-healing nutrition

I prefer to make meals that are animal-based for the whole family, but my husband and two boys are technically omnivores. I am the only carnivore in the house. Sometimes I find it hard to come up with “sides” that everyone will enjoy. I can, of course, make veggies for the family, but when we are all keeping to an animal-based, low-carb/high-fat way of eating, I have to get creative. My boys really like variety. Probably because I pushed the idea of variety when I was first studying gut health. I have since graduated to a more simple animal-based menu for myself, but the family still likes to be dazzled with food. Plus, these growing boys can get pretty hungry. I plan the meal around whatever meat I feel like eating and then add some more smaller portion animal-based items as sides. Here are some extras/sides that help to both satisfy and fill up the whole family:

  • Charcuterie Board (NO crackers - just meats, cheeses & olives)

  • Bacon - yep, as a “side”

  • Bacon wrapped chicken bites (or bacon wrapped chicken liver for me!)

  • Shrimp (cocktail or sautéed in butter)

  • Fried Prosciutto Wrapped Goat Cheese

  • Meatballs (different styles/flavors to coordinate with theme of dinner)

  • Seared Scallops

  • Deviled Eggs

  • Side of Soup (I’m the only one that will sip on plain Bone Broth, but the family will do a cup of no beans/meat-heavy Chili or Hamburger Soup)

  • Fried Egg on-top of a Bunless Burger makes it a little extra hearty

  • Baked/Air-fryer Chicken Wings
